New Vice President based in Europe will oversee Akamai's sales efforts throughout European and Asia-Pacific regions

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. - July 22, 2004 - Akamai Technologies, Inc. (NASDAQ: AKAM), the global leader of distributed computing solutions and services, today announced that Carlos Ramon has been appointed Vice President of Sales and General Manager, International to lead Akamai's international expansion, and to help increase global sales and awareness of its market-leading, Edge-based services and platform. Mr. Ramon will report to Robert Hughes, Executive Vice President of Global Sales and Services, Akamai.

Mr. Ramon brings over 15 years of international enterprise software sales expertise to Akamai. Until recently, Mr. Ramon served as Vice President of Global Sales at HAHT Commerce, an award-winning provider of demand chain management applications. Prior to HAHT Commerce, Mr. Ramon was Vice President of Sales and International Business Development at PeopleSoft, and has also served as Vice President and General Manager of Latin America at Vantive, a leading provider of CRM applications.
